Saturday, May 4, 2024: Limestone University To Host Graduation Ceremonies At 10 A.M. & 1 P.M.

Limestone University will conduct two separate graduation ceremonies this Saturday, May 4, inside Fullerton Auditorium.

Limestone will hold a commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. for graduates from its College of Business and select College of Liberal Arts and Science Majors, including Master of Health Informatics, Professional Communications, and Computer Science. The University will conduct a ceremony at 1 p.m. for graduates from its College of Education & Health Professions and the remaining College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Majors, including Art, Biology, History, Music, English/Writing, and Liberal Studies.

Acting President Jeremy Whitaker will confer degrees for 302 graduates from its various programs during the upcoming spring semester commencement. Including the 188 degrees that were awarded in December, Limestone will graduate a total of 490 students during the 2023-2024 academic year. The upcoming ceremony will include conferring 271 degrees at the undergraduate level (including the On-Campus and Limestone Online) and 31 from the graduate level programs.

Limestone’s graduations will be live streamed so family and friends unable to be in attendance can view the ceremonies. The live-stream link will be available at www.limestone.edu and on all Limestone University social media platforms.

Due to limited seating capacity at Fullerton Auditorium, tickets are required to attend the graduation ceremonies. For those in attendance on Saturday who do not have tickets for inside the auditorium, there will be live stream viewing available inside the Hines & Riggins Center meeting rooms.

Limestone’s commencement speaker at both ceremonies on Saturday will be Wendy Damron, President & Chief Executive Officer of Palmetto Promise Institute. Founded by Sen. Jim Demint in 2013, Palmetto Promise Institute is the premier conservative thinktank in South Carolina. The Institute's mission is to promote policy solutions to advance a free and flourishing South Carolina, where every individual has the opportunity to reach their full, God-given potential.

Damron is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 1996. She started her career at Ernst & Young LLP as a CPA in both the Detroit and Baltimore offices, where she practiced in all aspects of tax with a concentration on the areas of high net‐worth individuals, corporate and non‐profit compliance. In 2000, Damron became a self‐employed tax professional. She continues her tax practice with pro‐bono work.

She also served as the State Director for Convention of States, also known as Citizens for Self-Governance, a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging citizens to actively engage with their state legislatures to make an impact on policy. The efforts of that state team resulted in the successful passage of legislation in South Carolina. During her time with the organization, Damron traveled the state to speak to groups about self-governance.

Damron, her husband Jason, and their two children moved in 2013 from Michigan to Mt. Pleasant, where they still reside.
