The Limestone University Presidential Search Committee has selected three finalists who will visit the campus later this month.

The three finalists are, in alphabetical order, Dr. Nathan B. Copeland, Vice President of Advancement and Enrollment at Spring Hill College (Mobile, AL); Dr. G. Eric Skipper, Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (Bluffton, SC); and Jeremy C. Whitaker, Acting President and Vice President of Finance and Administration at Limestone University (Gaffney, SC).

The cover letter and curriculum vitae for each of the three finalists can be found in the News & Announcements section of Limestone’s Presidential Search website: www.limestone.edu/presidential-search/news. Personal contact information in the candidates’ documents has been redacted.

Each finalist will soon visit the campus and the local community. Meetings with various stakeholders are currently being scheduled. Those meeting dates, times, and locations will be announced soon.

The campus visits will include open forums where those in attendance will have an opportunity to meet the candidates, hear their presentations, and ask questions. Following each visit, stakeholders will be invited to participate in a survey to submit their feedback on the candidate. The survey results will be shared with the Search Committee members and Board of Trustees.

Listed in chronological order, the candidate visits are scheduled to place on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, April 9 & Wednesday, April 10: Dr. G. Eric Skipper
  • Thursday, April 11 & Friday, April 12: Jeremey C. Whitaker
  • Monday, April 15 & Tuesday, April 16: Dr. Nathan B. Copeland

The above dates are subject to change.

“The dedication, focus, and commitment of the Presidential Search Committee has ensured that Limestone University’s next President will be an exceptionally qualified and experienced educational leader,” said Search Committee Chair Dr. James Prevost. “Committee members have assessed data, communicated with candidates, and participated in candid conversations in order to present these three candidates to the campus and Cherokee County communities.”

Candidate recruitment began in December of 2023 with advertising and outreach to higher education leaders across the country. The Search Committee began reviewing applications in January, and by the application deadline of January 30, a pool of 103 candidates had applied.

In February, the Search Committee thoroughly reviewed and discussed the candidates prior to the field being narrowed to 20. Those candidates participated in a leadership assessment that focused on the candidate’s ability to work within Limestone’s cultural, academic, fiscal, and community environments. Following that assessment, eight candidates were invited for continuation interviews. After those interviews, the Search Committee voted for the three finalists to visit campus.

The Limestone University Board of Trustees will meet on Friday, April 19, to discuss the candidate visits. At the appropriate time, the Board will vote to select the next President of Limestone. Board of Trustees Chair Randall L. Richardson will then officially announce the President-Elect.
