Limestone University art student Mika Walters will present her Senior Showcase, “Double | Doburu” with a reception and artist talk on Thursday May 2, at 6 p.m., in the Limestone Gallery located inside the Hines & Riggins Center.

The reception and artist talk is free and open to the public. The exhibition is now open and will run through May 6.

“Doburu” is a Japanese term that means “double” and refers to people of multiple descents. In this collection, Walters explores her experience growing up as a Japanese American in the United States. Her dual upbringings are reflected in nostalgic elements depicted through various media including paintings, ceramics, bookmaking, and crochet. Walters came to Limestone from Lakewood, NY, and is a double major in studio art and psychology. “I would like to thank my family back home and the Limestone Art Program for supporting me in my first solo art exhibition,” she said.
