Camille Denise Hunter, Corporate Accounting Manager at J.M. Smith Corporation in Spartanburg, has been named to the Limestone College Board of Trustees following the opening of an unexpired term seat.
“I was thrilled to be considered,” Hunter said. “I am normally a very humble person and this experience has humbled me even more. I can’t tell you how honored I was to be selected.”
Hunter, a native of Spartanburg and graduate of Spartanburg High School, completed her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Converse College in 2000. She then enrolled in Limestone’s Master of Business Administration program in 2013 after learning about it through J.M. Smith, a business partner of Limestone College.
The partnership allowed Hunter to work toward her MBA through a corporate grant. She believes her experiences in the MBA program will give her a unique perspective in Board discussions.
“I had a wonderful time in the program,” Hunter explained. “It will be very informative for other Board members to know my experiences as an MBA student. Working in that group setting, I have to say that I had the best fellow students around me. We are all still friends, and we still get together and go to lunch. It was such a great experience.”
Prior to becoming Corporate Account Manager at J.M. Smith, Hunter was a Corporate/Payroll Accountant for the company. She has also worked for the Peace Center of Performing Arts in Greenville, The Felters Group of Roebuck, and as an accountant for Bi-Lo, LLC, Spartanburg Water System, Lockwood Greene Engineering, and Siemens Energy and Automation.
Hunter trusts her knowledge and love of Upstate South Carolina will help guide her in the new role.
“I can bring a lot to the table in that respect,” she noted. “I was born and raised here. I think I can offer ideas that can help the success of Limestone and help with the growth of the College as we move forward into an exciting time.”
