Academic advising is a key factor in your journey through higher education. As a new Limestone student, you will be assigned to a Success Coach once the commitment process has been completed through Admissions. Your Success Coach will serve as your first-year advisor, assisting you with class registration, getting cleared to begin classes, Orientation registration, and any questions you have before classes begin. They will also work with you throughout your first year to help you stay on track, develop strong time management, academic and social skills while also supporting you as you navigate college life. After your first year, you will then transition to your major-specific Academic Advisor who will continue to support you with class registration and advising in your desired major. Your Success Coach will continue to be available for questions and support throughout your time at Limestone.
The relationships you build with your Student Success Coaches and Academic Advisors, will serve you well during your time as a Limestone University student and beyond. It would be in your best interest to get to know these people and visit with them each semester.
First-Year Advising
First-year advising with a Success Coach is designed to help you understand course registration and the advising process and ensure you are enrolling in the best courses for your major. During your first conversations with your Success Coach, you can expect to verify any dual enrollment, AP, or college credit, confirm that all transcripts and paperwork has been received, discuss your chosen major, and walk you through your 4-year degree plan. You will be a part of the conversation of what courses you will be placed in during your first year. If you choose, you can schedule a time to come to campus to meet with your Success Coach face to face, or advising meetings can be done via phone or zoom. You will have the opportunity to meet during Orientation. You may locate your advisors’ information on the Registration tab after logging into the HALO. If you have not been assigned an advisor or have questions, please contact:
Star Jamison,
Director of First Year Experiences,
jsjamison@limestone.edu.
- New Students transferring in more than 30 credit hours, will be advised by the registrar’s office.
- In order to begin your advisement conversation, please be sure that all Transcripts are submitted as quickly as possible. We require official final transcripts to award academic credit.
Academic Advising
After your first year, you will be assigned to an Academic Advisor in your chosen major. This advisor will continue to support you in course selection as you progress through your program. During open registration, you may self-register by logging into the HALO or by making an appointment with your assigned advisor through Navigate. You may locate your advisors’ information on the Registration tab after logging into the HALO, or through Navigate.
As a student, please take the responsibility to become familiar with your chosen major’s requirements. Your advising worksheet, which is available to you in the HALO is a great tool in assisting you with the courses you are responsible for completing. You can also access your 4-year degree plans in the Academic Catalog.
Please remember that the Registrar’s Office is also available for questions or concerns regarding advising, registration and graduation. The Registrar’s office is located in the Curtis Administration building on the second floor.
