Limestone University’s Office of Institutional Advancement has named Antwon Gleaton as its new Director of Annual Giving.

A Limestone alumnus, Gleaton is the latest to join a revitalized Institutional Advancement team. He is also unique in that he graduated from Limestone’s former Evening Program, where in-person classes took place in the University’s satellite centers across the state of South Carolina. The Columbia-native, utilizing the program’s local campus, completed his degree in four years, while maintaining a full-time job.

“It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget,” said Gleaton, who earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Limestone in 2014. “I was working full-time and going to school in the evenings. I was the first person in my family to get a college education. I saw the importance of education early on, and what the benefits could be for my entire life.”

Limestone’s evening classroom sessions have since been replaced by its Online Program.

Prior to joining Limestone’s staff, Gleaton spent four years at the University of South Carolina, most recently as the Assistant Director of Development for the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management. He now brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to oversee Limestone’s annual giving, build relationships with both current and potential donors, and share his insights on all fundraising campaigns within the Advancement Office.

“I got so much gratification in seeing the connection between a donor and a student during my time with the University of South Carolina,” he noted. “I was able to see where the donor was giving money, and then I was able to see how the students were benefiting from it.

“I just want to encourage all donors, whether you attended Limestone or not, to just think about our students and how your legacy of giving can be an important part of the next generation,” he added.

In addition to his undergraduate degree from Limestone, Gleaton earned his Master of Business Administration from Webster University. He also received a Certificate in Funding Management from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
