GREAT SCOTT!
It was on Oct. 21, 2015, that Marty McFly, with help from Doc’s DeLorean, did some time traveling in the movie "Back to the Future," and it is also the day the “Artifacts from the Future” exhibit opens at Winnie Davis Hall of History at Limestone College.
Limestone faculty members Dr. Randy Nichols and Megan Anderson will host a reception on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in Winnie Davis Hall to introduce this installation taking place on the third floor.
Refreshments will be served and the curators will give a brief talk at the reception. The exhibit is part of the Smartphone Museum series and features displays that are enhanced by the use of visitors’ smartphones to connect to online digital information.
In addition to smartphones, visitors are encouraged to bring their ear buds to listen to video artifacts in the display cases. Visitors are also encouraged to make their own predictions about the world of 2045 via the museum’s social media links.
The exhibit focuses on how we looked at the future from the past. Featured display areas are: Predicting the Future, Transportation of the Future, Home of the Future, Communications of the Future, and Back to the Future.
“Artifacts from the Future” will run through January, 2016.
