Limestone College will conduct its 11th annual High School Honor Band Clinic from Thursday, Feb. 1 through Saturday, Feb. 3.
Participants from throughout the Southeast were nominated by their high school band directors, and those selected are attending the clinic free of charge. Chairs will be determined by a short performance audition that will include selected scales and sight-reading.
At least 180 high school wind players and percussionists are expected to attend the three-day event.
The clinicians include Limestone’s Director of Bands Dr. Patrick K. Carney and Assistant Director of Bands Joseph Earp.
“By allowing this event to be free for all selected participants, our administration acknowledges the value of and need for music education in our great country,” Carney explained. “Music is one of the Seven Branches of Learning for a liberal arts institution, and with the continued support of our administration, faculty, staff, and students, will forever remain one of Limestone’s most valued programs.”
Those selected for the Honor Band Clinic will receive quality instruction, a Friday lunch and dinner, an honor band t-shirt, a free concert, and the opportunity to perform with their peers from several different states.
