Alayna Downey, a junior from Gaffney, was crowned “Miss Limestone College” on Saturday, February 21, at Fullerton Auditorium.
Downey (seen here in accompanying photo) also captured awards for “Best Evening Wear” and “Best Talent.” A four-time national champion in team competitions, Downey clogged during the talent portion in the pageant.
Miss Limestone College first runner-up was Megan Smith, a senior from Marietta, GA. Brittany Durrah, a sophomore from Duncan, was the second runner-up. The People’s Choice Award, which raised money for an area charity, went to Alexis Harris from Spartanburg.
The event was sponsored by the Limestone Activity Board (LAB). The LAB coordinator is Sharlamekia Walker.
The pageant also made a donation to The Haven, a nonprofit homeless shelter located in Spartanburg.
The pageant judges included Amanda Ferguson, Caitlin Russell, Jonathan Trivette, Lauren Cabaniss, and Feytara Graham. The master of ceremonies was Charles Wyatt, Limestone’s Director of Communications.
Assisting Walker with the crowning and awards presentations was Lisa Gory Foster, Miss Limestone College 1985-1986.
