Limestone University will conduct two separate graduation ceremonies this Saturday, Dec. 14, inside Fullerton Auditorium.
Limestone will hold a commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. for graduates from its College of Business and the College of Health Science. The University will conduct a ceremony at 1 p.m. for graduates from its College of Educational & Behavioral Sciences and the College of Humanities & Computing.
President Dr. Nathan Copeland will confer degrees for 200 graduates from its various programs during the upcoming fall semester commencement. Including the 302 degrees that were awarded in May, Limestone will graduate a total of 502 students during the 2024 calendar year. The upcoming ceremony will include conferring 146 degrees at the undergraduate level (including the On-Campus and Limestone Online) and 54 from the graduate level programs.
Limestone’s graduations will be live streamed so family and friends unable to be in attendance can view the ceremonies. The live-stream link will be available at www.limestone.edu and on all Limestone University social media platforms.
Due to limited seating capacity at Fullerton Auditorium, tickets are required to attend the graduation ceremonies. For those in attendance on Saturday who do not have tickets for inside the auditorium, there will be live stream viewing available inside the Hines & Riggins Center meeting rooms.
Limestone’s commencement speaker at both ceremonies on Saturday will be Angel H. Malone the Superintendent of the Limestone Charter Association since its founding in 2021.
The Limestone Charter Association sponsors independent, innovative charter schools across South Carolina. It currently authorizes 13 schools across the state, with seven more expected to come on board within the next eight months.
Malone started her journey in education over 24 years ago, having served as a science teacher, science instructional coach, assistant principal, and the founding principal of the Orangeburg High School for Health Professions. While serving as principal, Malone worked to connect the importance of education, economic development, and building the labor market pipeline with a skilled workforce.
Malone also served as the Director of Career and Technical Education with the South Carolina Department of Education from 2018 to 2021, Malone oversaw all secondary and post-secondary Career and Technical Education programs and managed a federal and state budget of over $60 million. In that role, she also established and managed innovative partnerships between education, business, and industry, while providing guidance to local school districts and technical colleges on the management of federal and state funds. She also developed legislative provisions for the enactment of laws that benefit Career and Technical Education.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from South Carolina State University, a Master of Science degree in Educational Studies from Claflin University, a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education Administration from Charleston Southern University, and an Education Specialist degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. She is currently continuing her education by pursuing her Ed.D. from the University of South Carolina. She has also completed additional leadership coursework at Harvard University.
Malone has received numerous educational awards, including the Top 40 Under 40 Black Pages Award, the United States Department of Education MLK Drum Major Award, and the South Carolina Order of the Silver Crescent Award, which is the highest honor given by the Governor to a South Carolina Resident for community activism.
