Billy Mabry Named Limestone University’s Chief Of Campus Safety Department

Limestone University has selected Spartanburg-native Billy Mabry as its new Chief of the Campus Safety Department.

Mabry’s first day in his new role was Monday, Dec. 2.

He brings a wealth of leadership and experience to Limestone, having served as a Lieutenant for the Spartanburg Police Department for over 25 years, earning several awards over his career. During his time with the department, Mabry was also a Supervisor and Training Sergeant. He received the Spartanburg Police Department’s Distinguished Service Award in 2021 and the Outstanding Service Award in 2023. Mabry also received the Police Division Leadership Award in 2007.

Most recently, Mabry worked with a Security Response Team for DSI Security Services based in Greer, SC.

“I look forward to bringing my leadership to the Limestone campus, seeking out training for officers both on campus and in the community, and working together with those local agencies to create synergy and a strong partnership,” Mabry said. “I’m big on education, being a graduate of five different colleges. I am familiar with the college environment, and I have been looking to return for a long time. I’m extremely excited about this opportunity at Limestone and I look forward to meeting the campus community, including our students, faculty, and staff.”

Mabry graduated from Spartanburg High School before earning an associate degree in criminal justice from Spartanburg Methodist College. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s in sociology from Lander University. He later earned an associate degree in business from Limestone, before moving immediately to a Master of Business Administration from Webster University. Most recently, he received his master’s in criminal justice from the University of Louisville.
