The Limestone College Department of Music will host a concert by Duo “2” at Fullerton Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The chamber music for flute and piano will feature compositions by American and European masters.
Duo “2” is comprised of Peter H. Bloom playing flute and Mary Jane Rupert playing piano.
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
The artists are also scheduled to conduct a master class and coaching session for area flute and piano students during the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 15. For details, please contact the Department of Music at (864) 488-4509.
Bloom, whose playing has been called “a revelation for unforced sweetness and strength” by The Boston Globe, is featured on over 40 recordings and serves as historical performance consultant to The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. He serves on the faculty of the Snow Pond Composers Workshop and is a winner of the American Musicological Society’s Noah Greenberg Award. Bloom has performed concerts in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Far East.
Jane Rupert, acclaimed by The New York Times as exhibiting “indeed, real sensitivity,” has given solo recitals from Carnegie Hall to Beijing Concert Hall and has appeared as a classical pianist and harpist with symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States. She serves on the music faculties of Tufts University and Boston College.
