Limestone Graduations Will Be Streamed Live Over The Internet May 10-12

Limestone College will live stream over the internet all three of its upcoming graduation ceremonies coming up May 10-12 at 4 p.m. each day.

Limestone will confer a total of 310 degrees over three days. Board of Trustees Vice-Chairman David Riggins will welcome graduates, family members, and guests each day. College President Dr. Darrell Parker will be the commencement speaker each day.

The 156 Day Campus students will graduate Thursday, May 10, at 4 p.m.

At Thursday’s ceremony, Riggins will be presented with an honorary degree of Doctor of Public Service.

Two retiring Limestone professors will also receive citations on Thursday.

Dr. Albert Spencer, who is retiring as Professor of Physical Education, will be named Professor Emeritus of Physical Education. A native of Pittsburgh, Spencer joined the faculty at Limestone in 2000. In his 18 years as a member of the Limestone family, he helped significantly increase enrollment in the Sport Management program, while launching a minor in Coaching. He has also taught in the Physical Education Teacher Certification program and served as the chair of Department of Physical Education, Athletic Training, and Sport Management from 2001 to 2007.  

Dr. Ann Wyatt, who is retiring as Professor of Education, will be named Professor Emerita of Education. Since 1987, Dr. Wyatt has taught a variety of Education courses, including Teaching Reading in the Elementary School, History and Philosophy of Education, Content Area Reading, and Diagnostic and Prescriptive Reading.  A native of Newland, NC, she also has served as Chair of the Education Department for the past 25 years. From 1991 through 2003, Wyatt served as Director of Teacher Education. She was instrumental in Limestone’s consistent excellent record with national and state Teacher Education accrediting bodies.

Graduation for the 79 Evening Program students will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 11.

The 65 Online Program and 10 MBA Program students will graduate on Saturday, May 12.

Including the 322 who graduated following the fall semester, Limestone will award degrees to a total of 632 students during the 2017-2018 academic year.
