Limestone University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is channeling team spirit into a powerful force for good through a new initiative aimed at helping grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
As part of the effort, SAAC is selling new and exclusive Limestone Athletics merchandise, with all proceeds going directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Limestone’s goal is to raise more than $5,000, which would allow the University to host a wish-granting ceremony on campus for a deserving child. So far, the initiative has raised more than $3,000.
The fundraiser features a variety of Saints-branded apparel and gear, offering fans a fresh way to show school pride while supporting a meaningful cause. From hoodies and t-shirts to quarter-zips and jackets, each purchase helps bring hope and joy to children facing serious medical challenges.
“Our student-athletes are passionate about giving back,” said Kaitlin Holman, Limestone’s assistant athletics director for sport performance and student-athlete development. “This fundraiser allows us to rally the community, celebrate school spirit, and most importantly, make a difference in the lives of children who need it most. Wishes can have a positive impact on the physical and emotional well-being of children with critical illnesses and can be a turning point in their treatment.”
Supporters will have several opportunities to make purchases at upcoming events, including the “Blue & White Game” spring football scrimmage on Saturday, April 12, and the men’s and women’s lacrosse games on Saturday, April 19. During the football scrimmage, SAAC will host a raffle featuring a variety of game-worn team jerseys. At the lacrosse games, students and fans can also enjoy various activities that will be set up by SAAC to help raise funds.
As part of “Wish Week,” SAAC will host interactive games and raffles inside the Hines & Riggins Center from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, April 14, through Thursday, April 17.
Donations will be accepted at all the upcoming Make-A-Wish events, and contributions can also be made online at www.limestone.edu/makeawish.
Holman noted that Limestone students will have additional ways to participate during “Wish Week,” including corn hole and pickleball tournaments scheduled for Friday, April 18. Proceeds from both tournaments, along with those from “Mega Bingo” on Thursday, April 17, will benefit Limestone’s Make-A-Wish campaign.
“Our merchandise sales during the recent Future Saints Day tailgate, held before the men’s lacrosse game, raised more than $1,000,” noted Holman, who also serves as Limestone’s senior woman administrator. “We’re excited to offer more opportunities for Limestone students and fans to purchase gear and support a wonderful cause at the same time.”
The Make-A-Wish initiative reflects Limestone University’s commitment to service and leadership beyond the playing field. SAAC members, who represent each of the University’s athletic teams, regularly participate in outreach efforts that strengthen the bond between athletics and the broader community.
