In its continued efforts to connect with students in a variety of ways to help them understand their college options, Limestone University will be joining the Common App community on Monday, Aug. 8.
The Common App is a group of over 900 colleges and universities dedicated to lowering barriers to college access by streamlining the application process. It makes it easier for students to apply to multiple higher education institutions using one application. There is no fee required for students to join and use the Common App. With their submissions, students will be able to get results that will allow them to consider enrollment offers from each school.
After launching its Common App for first-year students on August 8, Limestone will add a Common App for transfer students in the near future.
In addition to using the Common App, interested students can apply directly to Limestone by visiting its website at www.limesone.edu. Applying to Limestone through the Common App or through its own website is free.
Used by more than three million applicants, teachers, and counselors every year, the Common App platform streamlines the college application process, providing resources and guidance to make higher education more accessible for students around the world.
Limestone joins the Common App’s mission of lowering the logistical and systemic barriers to college access. Students and colleges both benefit from a larger, more diverse, and more inclusive Common App. Limestone is one of over 50 additional colleges and universities now using the Common App application system.
Benefits of the Common App include saving time by filling out only one application to apply to multiple schools, reducing senior year stress by providing a dashboard that students can use to track what documents have been submitted and what is still outstanding, and writing only one application essay for the institutions that require them. Limestone’s admission process does not require a written essay.
“Joining the Common app will help streamline an essential part of the admissions process for students and their parents,” said Chris Phenicie, Limestone’s Vice President for Enrollment Services. “The Common App will provide an opportunity for students to access Limestone, and other institutions, more efficiently and with a user-friendly platform. Through the platform, applicants can apply to multiple colleges and universities at once. In doing so, students will only have to fill out one time the details that most schools require, including name, address and extracurricular activities. Through the Common App, we feel confident that students will find Limestone to be a very affordable and high-quality option.”
In addition to providing a single, online application and 24/7/365 support for all students applying to member colleges and universities, Common App connects applicants to a mobile app, financial aid and scholarship information, online portfolios, and a vast library of counselor resources available in English and Spanish.
To get started, students can visit www.commonapp.org and create a login. From there, they can browse all of the member college profiles and then make a list of target schools. Once students decide where they want to apply, then can make a checklist of everything required from each school. From there, they will submit their applications through the Common App.
