Limestone College student Luke Holt made his presence known at a recent nation-wide singing competition.
Holt (left in accompanying photo) recently traveled to Las Vegas for the National Association for Teachers Singing (NATS) to compete in the competition’s semi-finals. He advanced into the final round and was selected as one of the four best vocalists in the national contest.
While in Vegas, he also attended an open audition to work with the Broadway Shows division of Royal Caribbean Cruises. Following his audition, Holt was offered a position with the world’s second-largest cruise line operator. He plans to pursue that opportunity upon his graduation from Limestone College in December of 2018.
Limestone student J.R. Bloomer (right in accompanying photo) also took part in the NATS national semi-finals. Holt and Bloomer, who are both Bachelor of Fine Arts Music Theatre majors, first competed on the state level at Converse College in Spartanburg in October of 2017.
Having qualified to move forward, Bloomer and Holt advanced to the Mid-Atlantic regional at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. That regional included vocalists from Maryland/Washington, DC; North Carolina; South Carolina; and Virginia. Bloomer took first place in his category, while Holt also qualified to advance to the next level, which was a national video round.
Singers who had qualified from 14 regions across the United States submitted YouTube videos for judging, with both Bloomer and Holt qualifying for the national competition in Las Vegas.
