Limestone College’s marching band now has a hall of fame member on its staff.
Bobby Jones with the Marching Saints was recently inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame.
The Limestone band contracts with Jones as a drill writer, along with being a consultant and advisor for show development.
The Marching Saints perform at Limestone football games and also for thousands of high school band students from across South Carolina.
“In his time with the Marching Saints, Bobby has been a part of the efforts that have led to the band's dramatic growth leading into the new season,” said Ryan Williams, Limestone’s Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Recruiting. “We are so proud of his election into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame, and we are certainly thrilled to have him on our team.”
Being selected for membership into the Hall of Fame places Jones in the company of many historic innovators, leaders, and pioneers of the Marching Arts world, including former directors of “The President's Own” Marine Band, “The Commandant's Own” Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, and many other key organizations and individuals in the history of marching band and drum corps.
The World Drum Corps Hall of Fame is dedicated to the proposition of honoring those persons and Drum and Bugle corps who have contributed over the years to the development and excellence of the Drum and Bugle Corps activity by individual and collective effort. Founded in 1976, the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame is self-supporting, with a goal to induct new members each year and select the Senior and Junior Drum and Bugle Corps of the decade.
Hall of Fame candidates are chosen for their efforts in the categories of, among others, Arranging, Designing, Instruction, Administration, Adjudication, Innovation, and Contest Promotion.
