Miss Limestone College Wins Pageant's "Spirit Award"

Miss Limestone College Keasha Currence was presented with the “Spirit Award” by judges on Saturday, June 25, at the 2016 Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant held at Township Auditorium in Columbia.
 

The “Spirit Award” is presented each year to the contestant the judges feel most benefitted from her Miss South Carolina experience, and saw in her a great amount of potential and growth. The award included a $500 scholarship.

Earlier in the week, Currence received the prestigious Presidential Volunteer National Service Award, which recognizes American citizens who complete community service projects throughout the year. She was also presented with the Duke of Edinburgh Award, presented to contestants who demonstrate dedication to community service, physical fitness, special skills, and an adventurous journey.

Miss Clemson Rachel Wyatt was crowned Miss South Carolina 2016. Wyatt is from Piedmont and attends Clemson University. Gaffney native Sydney Ford, Miss Columbia, was the fourth runner-up.

Currence is a 22-year-old marketing major and member of the Limestone College Dance Team. Her Miss South Carolina platform focuses on preventing bullying in schools and is entitled “Don’t Stand By, Stand Up.” She is the daughter of Keith and Vivian Currence.
