New Instructors Hired At Limestone's Community Music School

Two new faculty members have joined the Limestone College Community Music School for the fall semester.

Alexandra Lee, who holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Converse College and has completed graduate courses in music at the University of Cincinnati, is now a piano instructor for the local music school.

Lee also teaches piano at the Lawson Academy and serves as the Music Director at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Inman.  Since she began her latest teaching duties in Gaffney, Lee’s studio has grown considerably.

“Teaching my students at the Limestone College Community Music School has been a delight,” she said. “It is an honor to help them grow as musicians, and I love to see the progress my students are making in their own personal way.”

Brian Horn recently returned to his hometown of Gaffney after living and working in the Washington, DC area for the last decade. He is now teaching brass for the Limestone College Community Music School.

Horn holds a Master’s of Trumpet Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory, a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor’s in Trumpet Performance from USC.

He has studied with many notable teachers, including J. Carlton Rowe, Principal Trumpet of the “President’s Own” United States Marine Band. He has also studied with Robert Nagel, Professor Emeritus at Yale University, and Steve Hendrickson, Principal Trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra.

Horn has performed widely with several ensembles, including the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the “Symphony of the Valley” in Winchester, VA, the Lake Murray Symphony in Irmo, and the Foothills Philharmonic in Greenville.

“The Community Music School is a much needed outlet for the talented students in and around Cherokee County,” Horn noted. “It is truly a pleasure and an honor to have the opportunity to work with these young musicians.”

The Limestone College Community Music School offers private lessons to students of all ages and abilities. Instruction is offered in piano, voice, brass, guitar, woodwinds, and percussion.
