Limestone College’s indoor drumline, Saints Percussion, made its 2019 debut on January 26 at the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association (CWEA) Premiere West held at Dorman High School.
Presenting approximately half of its program, "Behind Blue Eyes," the ensemble posted a score of 71.70, a 10-point increase of a prior score from its charter season in 2014.
“In our fifth season, we were very proud to have gone to our first competition and produced such a positive result,” said Saints Percussion Director Jonan Keeny. “Our recent score is a testament to the hard work of the members of Saints Percussion and to the continued dedication of our talented staff members. We certainly have to acknowledge our design team, Brady Hartness and Andrew Gregory, for developing such a rock-solid show concept that is accessible to both the audience and our organization.”
Saints Percussion will compete once again this season at the upcoming Winter Guard International (WGI) Spartanburg Regional on March 2, and “Behind Blue Eyes” will be completed by that time, including costumes and props. Featuring music by The Who, this will be the first public performance of the program in its entirety.
The contest will give Saints Percussion its first feedback as it prepares for its fifth consecutive appearance at WGI World Championships in April. Coming off a 10th place finish at World Championships last season, Saints Percussion’s core of veteran members have been integral to its continued success this season.
Tickets prices for the WGI Spartanburg Regional at Dorman High are $10 for the preliminaries and $15 for the finals. The cost is $20 to attend both events.
