To celebrate generosity and to encourage giving, Limestone University will celebrate its 10th annual “SaintsGiving” on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Proceeds from the day will benefit the Limestone Fund, which provides the necessary resources for merit and need based institutional scholarships, the acquisition of state-of-the art technological equipment, academic and extracurricular programs, and the ability to address other needs and opportunities as they arise.
“Our goal is to not only raise funds, but to engage our campus and the community in the importance of giving back,” said Limestone’s Acting President Jeremy Whitaker. “We already have the Thanksgiving holiday as a day to give thanks. And we have Black Friday and Cyber Monday as days that people can get great deals on Christmas gifts. With ‘SaintsGiving’ we have an annual event that celebrates philanthropy and provides a day to support Limestone University, and most importantly, our students.”
Tax deductible investments in the Limestone Fund can be made online at www.limestone.edu/saintsgiving. Donations can also be made in-person at Limestone on November 28 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. by simply driving up to the front entrance where Limestone staff and students will be there to accept contributions and to say thank you. Visitors can drop off a check or scan a QR code to make a drive-thru donation.
Limestone faculty, staff, and students will also get in on the “SaintsGiving” fun while having the chance to win some exciting prizes. Faculty and staff members who contribute at least $25 will be entered into a drawing to win a reserved parking space for a full year. Limestone students who donate a minimum of $25 will also be entered into a separate drawing for a reserved parking space. Students who donate at least $5 will also receive a free t-shirt.
In addition, faculty and staff members could win one or more (up to five!) days off. There will be five different hours during the day that faculty and staff members can make a minimum $25 donation for a chance to win. After each hour, from those who contributed during those 60 minutes, a drawing will be held for a day off. Those donation hours will be from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m., 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., and 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Those donations can be made online or in-person on the first floor of the Curtis Building. The days off awarded cannot be exchanged for a cash value, and the requested days off are subject to supervisor approval.
Limestone’s students can make their contributions online or on the front campus near the official Limestone Christmas tree between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
To show its appreciation to faculty and staff, Limestone will be providing free walking tacos on the first floor of the Curtis Building between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Donations are not necessary to enjoy the complimentary lunch.
“SaintsGiving” is once again being held in conjunction with the global “GivingTuesday” movement that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Starting in 2012, “GivingTuesday” has created a national day of giving to kick-off the giving season.
