The Limestone College Department of Music will host the Stephen Anderson Trio for both a demonstration and a concert on Tuesday, February 21.

The demonstration will take place at 2 p.m. in the Carroll Recital Hall, while the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Fullerton Auditorium. The public is invited to both events, which are free of charge.
Dr. Stephen Anderson is a critically acclaimed composer and pianist whose music has been published on 14 compact discs. Four of Anderson’s recordings have appeared on the Grammy Awards ballots. As a composer, his works have been performed by ensembles throughout the United States. Anderson is Professor of Composition and Jazz Studies at the University of North Carolina and is Director of the UNC Summer Jazz Workshop.
At the Limestone College events, Anderson will be joined by Jeffry Eckels on bass and Kobie Watkins on drums.
For 15 years. Eckels shared the musical spotlight with pianist John Thulin playing live jazz on Public Radio International’s popular show “Michael Feldman’s Whad’ Ya Know.” He has appeared with jazz greats Roscoe Mitchell, Ben Sidran, Antonio Sanchez, Howard Levy, John Abercrombie, Dan Tepfer, and Ernie Watts, among others. He is also a talented classical musician who has performed with many orchestras, symphonies, and chamber groups.
Watkins is a well-known drummer who has performed, toured, or recorded with jazz legend Sonny Rollins, Branford Marsalis, Joe Lovano, Curtis Fuller, Bob Mintzer, Jim Hall, John Patitucci, Arturo Sandoval, George Coleman, Ira Sullivan, Sonny Fortune and many others. He has toured extensively in Africa, Europe, Asia, Canada, South America, and the United States.
