Wind Collision Concert Scheduled April 9

The Limestone College Department of Music presents Wind Collision in concert on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in Carroll Recital Hall. 

Comprised of Jonathan Kierspe on saxophone and Samuel Anderson on bass trombone, Wind Collision was formed in 2017. The duo initially met during their senior year of high school at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, and they have since performed at a NASA Regional conference in Indiana, commissioned six works, and set up a multi-state tour where they will give masterclasses and perform their original works. 

As both a soloist and member of various chamber ensembles, Kierspe has performed in China, the United States, and across Europe. His work has been featured on NPR twice and in numerous festivals including the Bowling Green New Music Festival. This year alone, Kierspe has participated in 11 commissions for new solo and chamber works.  

Currently Kierspe is pursuing his master’s degree at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he studies with John Sampen, one of America’s leading concert saxophonists. He is also auditioning to doctoral programs. Kierspe received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina where he soloed with the school’s Wind Ensemble. 

Residing in Muncie, IN, Anderson runs a large private studio and has performed across the United States and Germany with several regional orchestras, ensembles, and chamber groups including the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, Muncie Civic Theatre, and Muncie Symphony Orchestra. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University where he studied with Jeremy Wilson, a former member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
