"August: Osage County" Starts At 7 PM

A production of “August: Osage County” will have a three-night run at Limestone College Theatre on Dec. 1-3. Show-time each day is at 7:00 p.m.

Winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best New Play, “August: Osage County” centers around the Weston family, brought together after their patriarch – a world-class poet and alcoholic – disappears.

Advance tickets are available at www.showtix4u.com. Adult tickets are $12 each, while those 65-over and non-Limestone students (with ID) are $10 each. Limestone students, faculty and staff are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door starting one hour before each performance. The performance is intended for mature audiences only.

“To me, this is theater at its best – when a character says or does something which half the audience laughs at while simultaneously the other half cringes in embarrassment,” said Director Rob Kahn. “It is simply a matter of individual perspective.

“Strong messages pervade the story: what goes around comes around, we reap what we sow,” he continued. “But we shouldn’t allow these ideas to dishearten us; if anything, it should strengthen our resolve in the face of adversity.”

The production includes a cast of 12 Limestone College students.   Kahn, who has been a professional actor for over 25 years, is a member of both the Actor’s Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Radio and Television Artists.  He has performed on stage throughout the country and has multiple film and television credits. 

“I have to thank the entire cast, crew, stage managers, and design team, whose collaborative efforts have created such a powerful piece of theater,” noted Kahn, who is also serving as an Adjunct Professor at Limestone.
