Miss Limestone College Keasha Currence is currently competing in the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant that is taking place this week at Township Auditorium in Columbia, with the finals set for Saturday, June 25.
Preliminaries started on Tuesday and will continue through Thursday.
Prior to last year when Alayna Downey of Gaffney represented the College, the last time Limestone had a contestant in the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant was 1997.
Currence is a 22-year-old marketing major and member of the Limestone College Dance Team. Her Miss South Carolina platform focuses on preventing bullying in schools and is entitled “Don’t Stand By, Stand Up.”
The Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant finals can be viewed Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. on television stations across South Carolina. Check local listings for availability. In the Upstate area, the pageant will air on WMYA My40.
The Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization is the largest state supplier of scholarship opportunities to young women under the Miss American Organization. The Miss South Carolina organization makes millions of dollars in scholarships available to fund contestant’s education, showing their dedication to empower young women across the state.
The pageant’s mission is to advance the creation, promotion and support of community service and educational opportunities for young women in the State of South Carolina while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and intelligence.
