Limestone Elects New Members To Board Of Trustees

Six new members will join the Limestone College Board of Trustees when the group gathers together for their first meeting of the 2015-2016 academic year in October. (Please click on the accompanying graphic to see the full photos of all six new board members.)

The new members’ terms started on July 1, and the next meeting of the Board of Trustees is set for Friday, Oct. 23, at Limestone’s main campus in Gaffney, South Carolina.The new trustees are Brown Packing Company President James W. (Jim) Brown; Clemson City Council member Crosland (Crossie) McDowell Cox; D&L Parts Procurement Specialist Richard Kepple (Kep) Disney, Jr.; retired tax attorney Robert A. (Bobby) Dobson, III; D.P. Riggins & Associates, Inc. President/Owner David P. Riggins; and KeenanSuggs Insurance Owner & Manager Joseph F. Sullivan.

“We are honored to have such wonderful leaders from diverse professional backgrounds joining our Board of Trustees,” said Limestone President Dr. Walt Griffin. “The College will be extremely well served by the new additions to our Board. These new members are all committed to our pursuit of excellence, and they will bring talents and experience that will be a source of strength for students, faculty, staff, and the Limestone community.”James W. (Jim) Brown, a Gaffney native and resident with his wife, Barbara, is a 1972 graduate of Clemson University. His father Walter, brother Gene, and sister Margaret Clary are former members of the Limestone Board of Trustees. His brother William is currently on the Board. Serving as a Deacon at Gaffney First Baptist Church, Brown has previously served as a Limestone Trustee.

Crosland (Crossie) McDowell Cox, who resides with her husband, Frank, in Clemson, is a 1968 graduate of Limestone College. Cox has worked as a legal assistant, in addition to careers in health care assistance and banking customer service. She is also a volunteer and supporter of the American Red Cross and serves as a Deacon at Clemson First Baptist Church. Cox is a past President of the Calhoun Rotary Club. She is a native of Fort Benning, Ga.

Richard Kepple (Kep) Disney, Jr., who resides with his wife, Debra, in Charlotte, is a 1996 Limestone graduate who previously served one term on the College’s Board of Trustees. Disney has also served on the Limestone President’s Advisory Council.  Disney is an information technology specialist as well as a distribution center/inventory specialist.

 

Robert A. (Bobby) Dobson, III, who lives in Greenville with his wife, Beth, has previously served four terms on the Limestone Board of Trustees, including a stint as Chairman. Dobson established Limestone’s Christian Education & Leadership Program and has been honored as a Philanthropist of the Year at the College. He was a major benefactor for the Dobson Student Center and has previously chaired two Limestone capital campaigns. With a degree from the University of South Carolina Law School, Dobson serves as Chairman of the Dobson Tape Christian Ministries. He received an Honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from Limestone in 2002.

David P. Riggins, who resides in Charlotte with his wife, Hope, is a Gaffney native and 1973 graduate of Limestone. He has previously served two terms as Trustee at the College. Riggins earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Winthrop University. He has served on numbers of boards including Grandfather Golf & Country Club, Crossnore School Board, Clemson University Board of Visitors, Winthrop University Business School Board, and Wofford College President’s Advisory Board.

 

Joseph F. Sullivan, who lives with his wife, Donna, in Greenville, grew up in Gaffney and he is a 1967 graduate of The Citadel. A former U.S. Army Lieutenant, Sullivan has served on various boards including the Greenville County Schools, Greenville County Foundation, United Way of Greenville, St. Francis Hospital Foundation and Board of Directors, Legacy Charter School Board, and Episcopal Church Vestry. 

These Limestone College Trustees will each serve for a period of five years, ending in 2020.
