Sure, there's the standard candy and flowers to capture the hearts and affection of those you hold dear for Valentine’s Day. But if you want to be undeniably "vocal" in your approach to Valentine's wishes this time around, there is another way.
A local group of vocalists are prepared to surprise your special someone with an out of the ordinary gift later this month, a Singing Valentine.
The Limestone College & Community Chorus will deliver Singing Valentines throughout the Cherokee County area on Friday, February 12, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
For a fee of $25, the ensemble of members will visit a recipient's home, office, or a restaurant to present a flower, card, or candy, and then serenade the recipient with one of three songs to choose from – “You Are My Sunshine,” Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” or “Sugartime.”
Proceeds will benefit the Limestone College Chorus, which is raising funds for a recruiting choral performance tour in New York City, May 11-16. Approximately 25 students are expected to participate, and the goal is to raise $1,449 per student.
“If it is time for you to do something special for your certain someone this Valentine’s Day, then a Singing Valentine might just be the perfect gift to make your loved one smile,” said Dr. Gena Poovey, Limestone’s Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education. “This is a great way to make someone’s Valentine’s truly special, while also raising much needed funding for the Limestone Chorus.”
