"Love Is Blind/Hate Is Deaf" Returns January 23-24

“Love Is Blind/Hate is Deaf” will open on Friday, Jan. 23, at 7:30 p.m., and will continue the next evening, January 24, at the same time. This show is intended for mature audiences only.

Limestone College Theatre is located at 130 Leadmine Street in Gaffney. Advance tickets are available at www.showtix4u.com. Tickets are $6 for students with proper identification, for senior citizens 65 and over, and for children 12-under. Adult tickets are $8. Limestone students, faculty and staff are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door each day at 6:30 p.m.

“Love Is Blind/Hate is Deaf” is an original workshop performance piece about the destructive/healing power of words.  This show, created by Dr. Carrie Ameling’s Gender and Race as Performance class at Limestone College, features a series of vignettes and dances that explore contemporary gender and race issues in society.  The class ensemble co-wrote the script using inspiration from contemporary music, poetry, personal narratives, movies, and advertising. “Love Is Blind/Hate is Deaf” takes a candid look at the media, peer, and familial influences that shape our gendered and racial identities.  

The 10-member cast includes eight Limestone students from Gaffney, including Jena Alford, Jeanna Burch, Kinsey Gregg, James Holmes, Kasey Jackson, Ashley McHam, Trey Tubb, and Zach White. Additional cast members include Jana Bell from Buffalo, SC, and Treshawn Ford from Summerville.

Limestone Theatre presented “Love Is Blind/Hate Is Deaf” in April of 2014, with ticket sales proceeds and donations benefitting Safe Homes/Rape Crisis Coalition of Gaffney.
