Limestone To Open New Greenville Campus On Nov. 17

Limestone College will officially open its new Greenville campus location on Monday, Nov. 17, starting at 5 p.m.

The two-hour event at 25 Woods Lake Road, in the Green Gate Office Park, will include a ribbon cutting and opening ceremony. Guests are encouraged to enjoy snacks, register for door prizes, tour the facility and learn more about degree programs offered at the site. There will also be an opportunity to enroll for upcoming classes.

Representatives from the Greenville Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for the ribbon cutting, along with President Dr. Walt Griffin and other Limestone administrators, faculty representatives, and members of the Board of Trustees.

The 4,337 square foot space, which can accommodate up to 60 students, is located at the intersection of Pleasantburg Drive and Interstate 385.

“We’ve been looking to move to Greenville for quite a while, and this is the right time,” said Dr. Mark Reger, Limestone’s Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Greenville is a growing area, and we believe that, in order to really be serviceable to students in Greenville and Spartanburg, the Greenville site is optimum because we have a much larger facility which allows us to better attend to the needs of our students.”

Limestone has renovated the new space, which now houses three large classrooms, several small classrooms, a computer lab and offices.

The festivities at the Greenville campus will continue throughout the week, with a “Tuesday Tailgate with the Saints,” a “Meet The Professors” event on Wednesday, and a “Chat & Chocolate” on Thursday. Each of those takes place from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. There will be a “Fall Fun Festival” at the site on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The new Online & Evening coordinator for the Upstate Area, which includes Greenville, is Vickie Fowler. She has 25 years of hands-on experience in marketing/brand development, sales/business development, and public relations/event management and is a graduate of the Leadership Greenville program. She received her B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing from the University of South Carolina.

"Limestone’s Online & Evening Program, which offers internet and evening classes, offers five majors at the associate degree level and 19 at the bachelor’s degree level. There are nearly 2,500 students enrolled in the Online & Evening Program," Dr. Reger explained. “Many working adults have a goal to complete a college education, but juggling work and family can be a challenge. The Limestone College Online & Evening provides them the opportunity to further their education, work full-time, and be there for their families.”

Courses are offered in eight-week terms with six terms per year. Students can take two courses each term, which earns them 36 semester hours in a year.

The new Greenville campus takes the place of Limestone’s former Online & Evening location in Greer, one of the College’s eight classroom locations. The others are located in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Kingstree, Yemassee, Aiken and evening classes at the main Gaffney campus.

In addition to its eight classroom locations and its traditional Day Program in Gaffney, Limestone also offers an Online Program for online students.
