When the Limestone College Board of Trustees met recently, seven new members were in attendance.
The new members’ terms started on July 1, and the meeting of the Board of Trustees was set for Thursday, Oct, 23, and Friday, Oct. 24, at Limestone’s main campus in Gaffney, South Carolina.
The new board members are:
John B. Eggers, who resides in Chesnee, South Carolina. Eggers is President/Owner of Eggers Funeral Home and Crematory. He received his Funeral Service Degree from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Eggers is a member of the Piedmont Group of the S.C. Funeral Directors Association, and has served as that group’s Chairman. He has also served on the S.C. State Board of Funeral Service, and is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. Eggers is also a member of the Boiling Springs Business Association, the Boiling Springs Masonic Lodge, and the Boiling Springs Lions Club.
Richard F. Jiran, who resides in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Jiran is the Director of Government & Community Relations for Duke Energy. He received his B.A. in Liberal Studies from Belmont Abbey College. He is also a graduate of the Strategic Leadership Program at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business. Jiran currently chairs the Government Relations Task Force of the York Regional Chamber of Commerce, where he also serves as Board Chairman. He is an eight-year United States Air Force veteran.
Jason D. Kaup, who resides in Toccoa, Georgia. Kaup is the Special Projects Director for the Pioneer Regional Education Service Agency. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Georgia State University. He earned his Education Specialist Degree from North Georgia College and State University, his Masters of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont College, and his Bachelor of Science Degree from Limestone College. Kaup currently serves as President of the Limestone College Alumni Association.
Dr. James G. Knox III, who resides in Tega Cay, South Carolina. Dr. Knox is the Principal at Lewisville High School in Richburg, South Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Erskine College, his M.A. from Appalachian State, his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. He also attended graduate school at East Carolina University. Dr. Knox has served for over 50 years in the education field. He has served on the board of the Chester County Historical Society and as president of the Chester District Genealogical Society. Dr. Knox is currently on the South Carolina Palmetto State E-cademy Board of Trustees.
Tommy E. Martin, who resides in Gaffney, South Carolina. Martin is the Editor and Publisher of The Cherokee Chronicle newspaper, based in Gaffney. He is a member of the Limestone College Class of 1968, and also attended the University of South Carolina. He has authored two books, I Will Kill Again: The Gaffney Strangler Story, and Son Of A Peach: Darn Near True Tales From The World’s Largest Fruit. He has captured numerous writing awards from the South Carolina Press Association. In addition to member of the Gaffney Rotary Club, Martin has also served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Cherokee County Family YMCA.
Robert R. Turbyfill, Jr., who resides in Augusta, Georgia. Now retired, Turbyfill is the former Manager of Marketing Services for Thermal Ceramics, Inc. He graduated from Limestone College with Bachelor of Science Degree. He is also a graduate of The Academy of Richmond County in Augusta. Turbyfill has served on several boards, including multiple roles with the Georgia State Society. He has also been a member of the Revolutionary War Color Guard of the Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution. Turbyfill has served two previous terms on the Limestone Board of Trustees.
Douglas E. Wilson, who resides in Gaffney, South Carolina. Wilson is the President/CEO of Broad River Electric Cooperative. He is a 2006 graduate of Limestone College through its Online & Evening Program. He also attended Spartanburg Technical College. In addition, Wilson completed the Management Internship Program from the University of Wisconsin. He is a member of the Union County Economic Development Board, and is a past member of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Board, and Crime Stoppers Board.
