The Saints are marching into Chicago in March of 2022.
The Limestone University Marching Saints have been selected to participate in the 67th Annual Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade, where the band will musically represent Limestone and South Carolina on the national level.
Labeled as one of the nation’s top St. Patrick's Day events, the Windy City draws approximately 200,000 spectators each year for the March festivities. During the yearly event, the Chicago River is dyed green, and a large parade makes its way through the downtown area as part of a celebration featuring traditional Irish tunes, dancing, floats, and marching bands.
The 2022 event will take place on Saturday, March 12.
“This incredible journey will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all the students, staff, and family involved,” said James Robinson, II, Limestone’s Assistant Director of Athletic Bands and Instrumental Music. “As a former member of this ensemble when I was a student at Limestone, I am thrilled to see how the group's sound and presence has matured over the years. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this program and to help build and grow its reputation as a nationally-recognized collegiate marching band.”
The live coverage of the St Patrick's Day celebrations from Chicago will be provided by local television network ABC7. In order for the Saints community to see its band perform, the live-stream link will be available on the Limestone website on March 12 by visiting HERE.
“The chance to travel and represent Limestone, our music program, and our state is an exciting and humbling opportunity,” noted Spencer Nance, the University’s Director of Athletic Bands. “This trip and this experience will mean so much to the students who will be marching.”
This will be yet another prestigious parade performance for the Limestone band. The Marching Saints also performed during the 2014 London New Year’s Day Parade.
