Limestone University and Spartanburg Community College officials signed an agreement on Friday, March 25, to formally implement a partnership to enhance the transfer process between the two institutions.

The “Transfer Admission Promise” provides a seamless admissions pathway to Limestone for Spartanburg Community College students completing their Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science degree program.

“We are tremendously excited about increasing our wonderful partnership with Spartanburg Community College and expanding the pathways to degree completion for students in our area,” said Limestone President Dr. Darrell Parker. “This agreement further emphasizes our strong belief in the value that community colleges provide to their students. Limestone is always thrilled to welcome Spartanburg Community College transfer students who are seeking a four-year degree. Limestone’s new Bachelor of Applied Science program, in particular, is meeting the needs of even more community college transfer students.”

With the collaborative agreement, eligible Spartanburg Community College students are automatically accepted to Limestone within one year following their graduation.

“At Spartanburg Community College, we pride ourselves in providing access to the highest quality education that delivers the best return on investment for our students, and we are proud to partner with Limestone University to provide extended pathways that offer our Chasers unlimited potential to live out their dreams,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of Spartanburg Community College.

In October of 2021, Limestone introduced a new Bachelor of Applied Science program that now helps more transfer students than ever before to affordably earn a four-year degree and advance their careers.

The Bachelor of Applied Science program at Limestone – which includes two different degree offerings – is intended to serve the needs of those students who have completed an associate of applied science degree program through a community college and need additional education to enhance their career trajectory. Credits in the Bachelor of Applied Science program can be earned through online or in-person courses, providing the flexibility that is a staple of Limestone’s degree programs.

Starting this past January, Limestone offers a Bachelor of Applied Science in both Business Administration and Professional Studies. The University is the first in South Carolina to offer the Bachelor of Applied Science in Professional Studies and is one of only two offering the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration.

With the new program, a student with an Associate of Applied Science degree from a community or technical college can enter either of the two distinct bachelor degree completion programs that will accept up to 76 credit hours toward a four-year degree.

“Our new Bachelor of Applied Science program will be transformative for community college students who want the flexibility that a four-year degree provides,” Parker noted.
