Limestone College Professor Erin Pushman has recently had two essays published in literary magazines.
“Through the Windshield (or Why I Did Not Run),” is now in the current issue of Pangyrus. In addition, “Five Minutes” is out in Mutha Magazine in both the print and online editions.
Pangyrus is one of the many literary magazines that makes up Poets & Writers, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization serving creative writers.
"Erin Pushman's ‘Through The Windshield’ wrestles with the terrible innocence of not knowing to protect yourself,” said Pangyrus editor Greg Harris.
MUTHA Magazine is for moms, mothers, and “muthas.” The magazine explores real-life motherhood, from every angle, at every stage.
“I’m happy to appear alongside other talented writers and ‘muthas’ in both of these publications,” Pushman said.
She is a member of the standing committee for the Conference on College Composition & Communication (CCCC) Creative Nonfiction Special Interest Group.
Pushman's writing has appeared in 1966: A Journal of Creative Nonfiction, the Gettysburg Review, Breastfeeding Today, Cold Mountain Review, More New Monologues for Women by Women II, Boomtown, and elsewhere. She is the recipient of a 2017 North Carolina Regional Artist Project Grant and is the current chair of the Donald Murray Prize in Creative Nonfiction from the Conference of College Composition and Communication.
She is currently blogging about her daughter's battle with a disfiguring disease. The blog can be found at www.thefaceofbravery.wordpress.com.
