William Ross serves as the Director of PBI Real Men Lead Program. William is a native of Spartanburg, SC where he still resides with his wife, Less. He received the Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina. He has a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University. Before joining the Division of Student Success at Limestone University, William served as Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Charleston Southern University where he taught master and doctoral level classes. He was the founding director of the CSU Call Me MiSTER Program, a statewide initiative to increase the number of black male teachers in SC.
Also, he served as Director of Graduate Regional Extended Studies and adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina Upstate for twelve years and taught in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program at South Carolina State University. He has worked as an elementary/middle school principal, assistant superintendent, and was the first Black superintendent of schools for Cherokee County. William is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the Omegas of Spartanburg where he serves as the chief grant writer for both organizations. A staunch believer of mentoring and leadership development, William has devoted much of his professional life to educating young Black males. Through his work, mentoring, evangelism, and commitment to the cause, hundreds of Black men are now actively leading, teaching, and giving their time and talents back to their communities.
