Limestone College Associate Professor Dr. Jaime Orejan has been selected as an on-site reviewer for the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).
Orejan joined the Limestone faculty in 2018 and serves as Chair of the College’s Sport Management program. Previously, he has served as a Professor of Sport Management at Elon University, Desales University, Loras College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Winston Salem State University. He has also taught as part of the online MBA programs in Sport Business at both Saint Leo University and Adelphi University.
His recent research has focused on the management and marketing of soccer in the United States. That research has led him to concentrate in the managerial and marketing issues within the U.S. Soccer Federation, and Major League Soccer, particularly their attempts to attract the Hispanic market.
The Commission on Sport Management Accreditation is a specialized accrediting body with a purpose to promote and recognize excellence in sport management education worldwide in colleges and universities at the Baccalaureate, Master's, and Doctoral levels through specialized accreditation.
Programs, students, employers, and the general public all benefit from the external verification of quality provided through COSMA's accreditation process. They also benefit from the process of continuous quality improvement that is encouraged by COSMA's developmental approach to promoting excellence in sport management education.
Limestone is currently developing its COSMA accreditation plan. The Sport Management program at the College now serves as a member of COSMA.
