The transition from high school to college is an exciting time for students as they find their own way and adjust to the new surroundings. College life comes with new freedom, experiences, and challenges and Limestone provides a supportive environment. The Division of Student Success delivers services, programs, and resources to assist students in making a positive transition to our campus and to encourage them along the way.
As parents and caregivers, you can empower your students to take ownership of their education. Encourage them to seek help from our office for any support needed. Tips to help with encouraging your student to be successful at Limestone are:
- Ask your student how classes are going and how they are adjusting to college atmosphere.
- Be supportive with your student and encourage them to advocate for themselves when they need to seek academic help.
- Encourage them to talk to their professor during office hours if they are having a difficult time in the class. In addition, remind them to seek tutoring services in our Academic Success Office limestone.edu/tutoring
- Encourage them to see their Success Coach/First-Year Advisor
- Advise your student to complete things early such as registration, financial aid, Success Coach meetings, etc….
- Remind them to check their Limestone email at least once a day, a lot of important information is sent there.

Academics
Do parents/caregivers receive a copy of their student’s grades?
- According to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), students must give written consent for their records to be released to anyone other than themselves.
What requirements must students meet to be in good academic standing?
To make satisfactory progress toward a degree and to remain in good academic standing, a student must complete 67% of the credits attempted each semester and achieve the minimum cumulate grade point average indicated below for the number of hours earned.

Tutoring
Tutoring services are free for Traditional Day students. A student may receive face-to-face or online tutoring through Upswing. For more information student can go to limestone.upswing.io
Success Coaching/First-Year Advising
Each first-year student is assigned a First-Year Advisor also known as Success Coaches to help with class scheduling, resources, and transitioning to college. These assignments are based on student’s area of study. Conversations with a Success Coach focus on personalizing student’s education, academic success, resources, and assisting to keep students on track. First-year students are required to meet with their Success Coach three times a semester and more if needed. Success Coaches will reach out to students through the Navigate Platform.
