The Limestone University art program has announced “Dream State,” the Senior Showcase for student Haylee Godfrin.
The exhibit is currently on display at the Granberry Gallery and will run through Monday, May 6. Limestone will also host a reception and artist talk on Friday, April 19, at 6 p.m. Both the gallery and the reception are free of charge and open to the public.
In “Dream State,” Godfrin uses a variety of mediums to reflect on how dreams and reality overlap, collide, and, at times, are one in the same. Inspired by the works of author Edgar Allen Poe, Godfrin’s work favors dark or macabre themes yet tries to find the beauty within what can often be seen by people as unsettling. Using photography, graphic design, and mixed media, she shows that there are still aspects of the macabre that can be appreciated, even in the aspects of life where they might not be admired right away.”
