Dr. Randy Nichols' "Agency And New Media" On Display In Granberry Hall Art Gallery

The Smartphone Museum presents "Agency and New Media," an interactive installation in Limestone College’s Granberry Hall Art Gallery now through February 24. There was a reception and curator's talk from Associate Professor Dr. Randy D. Nichols on January 23 at 5 p.m.

The exhibit explores how digital technology has enabled a paradigm shift in media by allowing users to print, publish, produce, edit, and share across various platforms in areas such as music, photography, movies, and more.

Founded by Nichols in 2012, the "Smartphone Museum" is an occasional, experimental, interactive, multi-modal composition space/event at Limestone. Visitors can engage a wealth of digital experiences by using their smartphones with a QR Code reading app.

According to Nichols, the goal of the Smartphone Museum is to encourage trans-disciplinary and trans-genre compositions and communications that include physical space, cyberspace, and collaborative guest participation.

Nichols holds a Ph.D. in Rhetorics, Communication and Information Design from Clemson University and has been a member of the Limestone faculty since 2011. He teaches Communications and Digital Literacies and Critical Thinking.
