The Limestone College Department of Music will host a piano concert by Jarred Morehead at Fullerton Auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
A graduate of Burns High School and a Shelby, NC native, Morehead is a pianist and teacher in New York City.
His festival performances include the Beethoven Institute as a Dai-Sung Kim full scholarship recipient (New York City), International Keyboard Institute and Festival (New York City), International Academy of Music (Italy), Burgos International Music Festival (Spain) and Cerdanya Music Festival (Spain).
In 2017, he won the Distinguished Achievement Award at the International Academy of Music festival competition. He was a semifinalist in The American Prize Competition in 2016. In 2015, he won First Prize at the Cerdanya Music Festival Competition, and in 2013, he won the Distinction Award at the Metropolitan International Piano Competition and played in the winner's concert at Carnegie Hall.
In addition to being a faculty member at the New York Music School, Morehead maintains his own private studio, where students play in three concerts per year. He is also a teaching assistant to Yuri Kim at Mannes Prep.
Morehead has degrees from the University of South Carolina, University of Texas at Austin, and Mannes College New School for Music.
