Adam Ward To Present Organ Recital As Part of "Reformation Reflections" Series

Renowned organist Adam Ward will present a special recital on Tuesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium as part of Limestone College’s “Reformation Reflections” series.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Ward, the Director of Music Ministries at Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte, will play pieces from composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Pierre Dumage, and Sigfrid Karg-Elert.

Ward earned Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Music, and Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He also studied piano, harpsichord, voice, and choral conducting at UNC-G. Ward is a past dean of both the Greensboro and the Charlotte chapters of the American Guild of Organists, and he has served the Guild as the District Convener for North Carolina.

Ward’s recording, “For the Beauty of the Earth,” has been featured on the nationally-syndicated radio broadcast “PipeDreams.”

“Reformation Reflections” is a commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the historic Protestant religious movement and its contemporary influence. The series of cultural and educational events is led by the Limestone College Division of Arts and Letters and will occur at the Gaffney main campus throughout the 2017-18 academic year.

It has been 500 years since Martin Luther set the Reformation in motion by nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Church in Germany on October 31, 1517.
