Wheeler Bryan, Jr., current supervisor at Sea Island Events in Sea Island, Georgia and former Limestone golfer, was recently named to the College’s Board of Trustees.
Bryan, who is filling an unexpired term, has 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, working primarily out of the Atlanta area. He graduated from Limestone in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Management and played four years on the Saints’ varsity golf team.
During his time at Limestone, Bryan was twice selected as Student Body President. He was also President of the Student Alumni Leadership Council, a President’s Award recipient, and was the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at Limestone Street United Methodist Church. Following graduation, Bryan has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Limestone College President’s Advisory Council. He was named the College’s Young Alumni of the Year in 2009.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity,” Bryan said. “From the moment I stepped foot on campus as a prospective student in 1999 until the day I graduated in 2003, I fell in love with Limestone and its history. After serving in student government here and then with the Alumni Association and the President’s Advisory Board, this felt like the next step.”
Bryan said he believes being a young alumnus will allow him a unique perspective in Board discussions.
“I will be able to bring different ideas since I was a former student-athlete and someone who was very involved in student life,” Bryan noted. “I experienced all of it – everything Limestone had to offer. From a professional standpoint being in the hospitality industry, I think there is a lot of crossover in the way we market ourselves. Presenting Limestone in a positive way to students and the community is a priority.”
