Following the most successful season in program history, the Limestone University football team returns for the 2023 season with an 11-game schedule that includes six home games and nine South Athletic Conference showdowns.
The Saints are coming off a record-breaking 8-3 regular season in 2022 that saw the team advance into the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in program history.
"Our staff has done a phenomenal job this offseason developing our players and adding new pieces to our program," said head coach Mike Furrey. "We have one goal right now and that starts August 31."
For the second consecutive year, the South Atlantic Conference will be made up of two divisions as the Saints will compete in the Piedmont Division against Newberry, Wingate, Lenoir-Rhyne, Barton, and Catawba. The Mountain Division consists of Mars Hill, Tusculum, Carson-Newman, Emory & Henry, UVA Wise, and Erskine.
After opening the season on the road at West Georgia on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., Limestone debuts at home on Saints Field on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 12 noon against West Alabama. Other home contests include Carson-Newman on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 12 noon; Mars Hill on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 12 noon; Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 12 noon; Catawba on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m., for homecoming; and Newberry on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 12 noon.
Following the Thursday opener on Aug. 31 at West Georgia, the other road games for Limestone include at UVA Wise on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m.; at Wingate on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m.; at Barton on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m.; and at Emory & Henry on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
