On the heels of its Master’s in Social Work being ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the United States among private non-profit institutions, Limestone University has once again been recognized as a top school for online education in healthcare. The website EduMed.org has ranked Limestone’s Online Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) No. 23 nationally for online degrees and certificates in the healthcare field going into 2024. Limestone’s BSW is ranked No. 4 nationally among private non-profit schools.

Winning is now becoming the norm for Limestone University’s football team. By virtue of last Saturday’s thrilling 28-24 victory over rival Newberry College, the Saints guaranteed themselves back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in program history.

The Limestone University and Community Chorus has announced its Fall 2023 choral concert, “Winter Wonder,” will take place on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium. The concert is open to the public and admission is free.

Watkins donated the book to the Limestone Library in honor of Trybus, who authored the book. "¡Vino! The History and Identity of Spanish Wine" explores the history and identity of Spanish wine production from the mid-nineteenth century to today. Nineteenth-century infestations of oidium fungus and phylloxera aphids devastated French and Italian vineyards but didn’t extend to the Iberian Peninsula at first, giving Spanish vintners the opportunity to increase their international sales. Once French and Italian wineries rebounded, however, Spanish wine producers had to up their game. Spain could not produce only table wine; it needed a quality product to compete with the supposedly superior French wines. After the Spanish Civil War the totalitarian Franco regime turned its attention to Spain’s devastated agricultural sector, but the country’s wine industry did not rebound until well after World War II. In the postwar years, it rebranded itself to compete in a more integrated European and international marketplace with the creation of a new wine identity. As European integration continued, Spanish wine producers and the tourism industry worked together to promote the uniqueness of Spain and the quality of its wines. Trybus, a Limestone Professor of History and Department Chair of Humanities & Communication, explores the development of Spanish wine in the context of national and global events, tracing how the wine industry has fared and ultimately prospered despite civil war, regional concerns, foreign problems, and changing tastes. Trybus is also Limestone's Program Coordinator of History & History/Pre-Law.

Limestone University’s Master of Education in Teacher Leadership program was recently awarded a $1.4 million National Science Foundation grant for Teacher Leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). It represents the largest academic grant that Limestone has received to date, the result of a year-long grant-writing process.

Limestone University’s chapter of Educators Rising will host International Dot Day activities on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on the front campus.

The Limestone University Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Dr. Monica Baloga, as Interim President, effective immediately.

Limestone University will offer a Virtual Open House event on September 20, starting at 12 p.m. & September 27 at 5:30 p.m. for its Online Undergraduate and Graduate Programs. The event is FREE, but registration is required. The deadline to register for the first session is Tuesday, September 19, at 5 p.m. The deadline to register for the second session is Tuesday, September 26, at 5 p.m.

The Limestone University Art Gallery has announced its first exhibition of fall semester, titled “Dancing Ledge.” The exhibit is comprised of one large scale abstract multimedia sculpture and a series of dimensional collages. It opened on August 5 and will run through October 5. There will be a reception and artist talk on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m., in the Hines & Riggins Center lobby.

The Limestone University Art Gallery is calling for submissions for its Fall 2023 Juried Exhibit.

Daniel Huggin was recently named as the new Chief of Campus Safety at Limestone University.

Great news for students from South Carolina! The South Carolina Higher Education Tuition Grants Commission recently voted unanimously to increase the maximum grant from the $4,700 initial amount approved earlier this year to $4,800 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Limestone University had a combined 262 students named to either the Dean’s List or the Honor Roll for the spring semester of 2023. A total of 157 students made the Dean’s List, while 105 made the Honor Roll.

It’s been a long and lonely summer for Limestone University’s mascot “Bernie” The Saint Bernard. Since the spring semester ended in May, “Bernie” has found himself alone for months here on campus, waiting for our new and returning Saints to arrive this fall. Hang in there, “Bernie.” It won’t be long before our beautiful and historic campus is filled with students once again.

Limestone University's football team kicks off the 2023 season at West Georgia on Thursday, Aug. 31! The Saints players and coaches will be handing out official schedule cards along the route of the S.C. Peach Festival Parade on Saturday, July 15, starting at 10 a.m. in downtown Gaffney.

Limestone University is launching its new “Saints 500” Challenge to engage its dedicated donor base and to provide its students with the resources needed to be successful in the classroom and on campus.

The Limestone University Athletics will begin selling tailgate parking passes and game tickets for the 2023 Saints football season on Wednesday, June 21, at 10 a.m.

Limestone University has announced a new athletic partnership with Under Armour and BSN SPORT that will outfit all Saints’ student-athletes beginning with the 2023-2024 season.

Recent Limestone University graduate and psychology major Hunter H. Moody presented a poster of his research titled “Paranormal Beliefs: Picture vs. Video Influences” during the 19th annual South Carolina Upstate Research Symposium held in March on the campus of USC Upstate in Spartanburg. In addition, Limestone Psychology professors Dr. Justin Bailey and Dr. Michelle Phillips-Meek presented their research titled “Political Affiliation And Attitudes Toward COVID-19 On A College Campus.”

Following the most successful season in program history, the Limestone University football team returns for the 2023 season with an 11-game schedule that includes six home games and nine South Athletic Conference showdowns.

Limestone University marked another significant milestone in its 178-year history with the recent election of Randall L. Richardson as the first African American to Chair its Board of Trustees.

The South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) announced earlier this week the receipt of a Power:Ed award that will provide completion grants for students at financial risk for dropping out of college. Qualifying students who could benefit include those from Limestone and others at the 21 private higher education institutions that are members of the SCICU.

The No.2-seeded Limestone University men's lacrosse team hosts No.5-seed Lenoir-Rhyne this Sunday, May 21, at 1 p.m. in the NCAA Division II National Championship Semifinals. The winner will advance into the National Title Game on Sunday, May 28, in Philadelphia. Tickets to the semifinal contest at Saints Field against the visiting Bears are now available online. Adult tickets are $5 and student tickets (12-under and college students) are $3 each.

The No. 2-seeded Limestone University men's lacrosse team will host No. 6 seed University of Indianapolis in an NCAA Division II National Championship Quarter-Final Game on Sunday, May 14, at 1 p.m., on Saints Field in Gaffney.

It was announced earlier this week that former Limestone University basketball player Charles Blue has been named as the new head coach for the boys' basketball team at Gaffney High School.

Limestone University music professor Dr. David Thompson will mark an end of an era Saturday when he hears the final notes from “Pomp and Circumstance” ring through Fullerton Auditorium.

Limestone University To Host Spring Jazz Fest On April 25 The Limestone University Jazz Ensemble will host the Limestone Spring Jazz Fest on Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m., in Fullerton Auditorium. The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend. The joint concert with the Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble will feature classic big band jazz music as well as more contemporary arrangements and compositions. The Limestone Jazz Ensemble is conducted by Spencer Nance, and the Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble is conducted by Dr. Tom Wright. “This is a great opportunity for our students in the Jazz Ensemble to perform with musicians of a high caliber from the area,” Nance said. “It also gives us the opportunity to invite musicians from the community to perform on our beautiful campus.” Established in 1996 under the auspices of the Spartanburg Community Band, the Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble was formed in order to create an opportunity for local musicians to provide quality jazz performances to the public. The Jazz Band performs at events such as Spartanburg’s Spring Fling, Music on Main, Dickens of a Christmas, and for special programs such as the Pan American Games for the Blind. The Jazz Band also performs on its own during the popular “Ice Cream Sundays” Summer Concert Series and the Christmas Festival.

Limestone University and its Athletic Department have announced the discontinuation of the men’s volleyball program effectively immediately. Currently enrolled students will retain their scholarships through the completion of their fourth academic year if they remain at Limestone.

The Limestone University Chorus will present its Spring Concert on Sunday, April 23, at 3 p.m. inside Fullerton Auditorium.

Students from Limestone University and other South Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities (SCICU) member colleges & universities were at the South Carolina State House on Wednesday, April 19, to say “thank you” to legislators for their S.C. Tuition Grants.

The fourth-grade classes from Limestone-Central Elementary School were on campus on Tuesday, April 18, to get a glimpse of the student experience at Limestone University.
